REMINDER: QUESTIONS ABOUT INDIVIDUAL SUBMISSIONS ADDRESSED TO THE MAIN PAGE WILL BE DELETED AND IGNORED
Welcome to Rome-SPQR, a collection of art relating to Ancient Rome, from the Republic to the Empire and beyond! Thanks to those of you who have joined or added us to your watch list, and special thanks to those of you who responded to gallery feature requests we sent out.
What kinds of art can I submit?
As long as they fit into the theme of ancient Rome, Greece, and other related cultures of the time, we will accept
*Traditional drawings or paintings
*Digital drawings or paintings
*Vectors, Vexels, Pixel Art, Text Art, basically any of the many art categories on DA
*Street art and stencils, either your own work or photos of found artwork
*Photography - this includes Roman landmarks, costume shoots, and photos of artwork or sculpture - just as long as you took the actual photo.
*Photomanips
*Sculpture and Pottery
*Costuming, Armor, Weaponry, Jewelry, and other props
*Emoticons and "Support Stamps"
NUDITY, LANGUAGE, BLOOD, GORE, AND VIOLENCE IS OK, just please have the deviation marked properly for Mature content. However anything submitted that violates DA policy will not only be rejected, but reported to the admins.
Artwork depicting a darker, less-than-glorious side of Rome is also accepted. Each culture has its unhappy aspects, and Rome was certainly no exception.
Homosexual themes are accepted.
What is NOT allowed?
*Prose or poetry. This is purely a mod preference. However writing alongside artwork is fine, as long as you created both, or have permission to use the artwork with your words (and vice versa.)
* The millionth tourist photo of the Colosseum. If you want yours to appear in our gallery, it should have something very unique about it, such as angle, other scenery/props, cool manipulation, etc. Make it "pop", so to speak.
* Screencaps from movies, scans from books, junk you found on Google, and pretty much anything that isn't yours to post.
*Leonidas memes (Link NSFW) Yes, they're hilarious as hell. No, they don't belong on DA.
How many deviations can I submit and how often?
Submissions are only limited to 10 deviations per WEEK in the gallery. This includes work of your own and work of others. (IE, if you submit 5 of your works and 5 random arts from others, that's your 10 for the week.)
I don't have any Roman art of my own, but I found an awesome piece that would fit in with the gallery! What can I do?
You can submit it the same as if it were your work! Just use the "Submit to a group" link on the individual deviation page. If you submit it to the Favorites gallery, it will be automatically approved, but it won't appear on DevWatch feeds, and chances are that it won't be seen as much. If you submit it to the Gallery, it will first have to be approved by us, then by the artist. A longer wait, but more people are likely to see it, and the artist might be flattered that you liked their art so much you wanted to spread the love. Submissions of other people's work to the gallery are still subject to the 10 per week limit.
Where else would my artwork fit in?
Try our affiliate group, ImperiumRomanum! Be sure to read their posted submission guidelines as well.
Will you affiliate my group?
Sure! Just send us a note! Your group can be about any topic, so long as you have an icon and some sort of activity going on. If you have just started your group, try to get some more members or deviations before asking us.
I have a question not answered here.
Send a note to the club and we will try to help you!
For questions about submission content:
"Will this fit in with the group?" questions need to be sent to the group via NOTE.
"Why was this declined?" questions need to be addressed on the submission log for the piece in question, or via Note. To comment on the submission log, see the following illustrations:
